2nd Dilemma- The Magic Word

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

Hello,

It’s me again. Do you know of thousands of English words, which one would serve like an “energetic drink” to the readers when they see it?

Energy? NUH.

Strong? NOPE.

Then what?

JIANG! JIANG! JIANG! JIANG!

The Magic Word is ———————-F  R  E  E !(gift)

Scenario 1

Everybody loves shopping whenever there are sales promotion in the department store. Well, that’s is normal. But if ever you are having any events, to make sure people come to visit, The Magic Word is a Must to be shown very clearly on your brochure. eg. The First 50 Customer are entitled to get a mystery FREE GIFT!

Then all the uncles & aunties, Pak Cik & Mak Cik etc. will surely to be very puncture. Recently, youngsters are also deeply affected by this phenomenon.

Let me brief you some important facts before we begin.FYI, there is a very big shopping center in Selangor called “2 UTAMA”. There is an electronic shop in it, called “SOLY Center”. There is this gaming product called “SP3″, very expensive.

Now, the story begin.

One day, the latest gaming product of the SP series– “SP3″ was announced to be launched in the shopping center with complementary of the “SOLY Center”. Being one of the biggest electronic company in Asia and the world, SOLY would surely come out with a special way to help promoting their products. Hence, THE EARLY BIRD Promotion was introduced then. It was said that the first customer will get to buy SP3 at RM899.00 instead of RM1899.00. Save one thousand, Who doesn’t want it??? 2nd to 5th customer could saveRM900.00 and subsequently until the 50th customer.

So, those cute fans of SP series were pretty mad and eager to buy it. You know how great is the effect of  Free?(in this case, half free).

The first customer told the press in a short interview:” To get to the first place in the queue, I had camped here 3 days!”

WOW! Amazing isn’t it?

Scenario 2

Just now we mentioned an incident in private company’s event. Now we talk about the happenings in the government’s event. Malaysia’s government has always been very generous towards the people. Whenever there is an event or campaign, FREE GIFTS are always available, “UNLIMITED-ly“. Either free beverages, free pen, free fan, etc.

So, the story begin. In the year of 2006, December, a sudden, severe flood happened in Melaka and Johor. The water level in certain housing area even up to 5ft. So, the government announced that every household affected by the flood will get RM200.00 as compensation. This is very generous right? Yes, it is indeed. But RM200.00 wasn’t even enough for them to repair their houses. So, the people expressed their wish to raise the compensation. But, it’s the final decision. Then, you can see how people who shouted “RM200.00 isn’t even enough to repair” actually running toward the RM200.00 like if he is late, the money will be gone. Hypocrite eh?This is one kind.

Another kind is, There were these people whose houses were merely affected by the flood(people experienced 5ft,they experience 2inches). These people also went(rushed) for the money as if the money will be gone. greedy and inconsiderate eh?

1st Dilemma – Jump Q

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Hello,

It’s me again. Today, i would like to tell a “small little” dilemma of most Malaysians–Jump Q.

The story happened in a very prestigious institution here. One day, I went into the general office for some acquirements. When I went into the office, there were 3 students queuing at the counter. The other 2 were standing at the corner reading a notice. So, I started queuing and waited patiently for my turn. FYI, the receptionist was of the same race with the other 5 girls in the office. You know how do they  test your patience?

They were dealing with some clarifications of examination slips with the counter. Well, the first girl in the queue took 5 minutes checking on her names, sign, and tear off the slip, while talking with her friends. Pooh! Thats tolerable.

The second one took 5 minutes to search for her name, and another 5 minutes to sign her name! That is really pissing me off already! But, i can see that the third girl actually noticed my emotion and tried to finish hers within 5 minutes. Really appreciate her “hard work”…

You think I was about to get to my turn, aren’t you? NO! Just as i was about to move forward, the other two girls who stood at the corner came to pad on their “friends’ ” shoulder, and started a 5 minutes chat about nonsense like ” long time no see…” sort of that. I thought that’s all, but they “continued queuing  before me and started to clarify their slips there! Right in front of me! One of them smiled at me some more! The worse thing is—the receptionist showed no notice (or pretend?) of them jumping queue.

They both took 15 minutes to check with their names and slips!!!

Imagine, check name, sign, tear slip. Just 3 easy steps, took 5 persons 40 minutes to do it! When it reached my turn, i took merely 2 minutes to complete the task. The notice “please queue” posted on the counter serves no purpose at all!

Well, This is Malaysia!!!

This is Malaysia!

Hello,

As our Visit Malaysia Year campaign always showing or “stressing” that Malaysia, a small but lovely country, has got 3 main races. Namely Malay(65%),Chinese(26%) and Indian(5%), the remanding (4%) refers to the aboriginals in Malaysia.

Malaysia is an ever summer+always rainy country. Due to the changes in the weather,we tend to be quite moody sometimes. Some are hot tempered, some very cool, and you name it. This has made living in Malaysia so much fun and we have got so many unwritten rules to follow.
